Introduction
Perhaps one of the few chances to explore the history and archaeology of Saudi Arabia. This is the place where the Saud family first came to power in the mid 18th century, only for it to lose out to the Turkish backed Egyptian army when it laid seige in 1818.
An ideal early morning or evening excursion, not too far from the centre of Riyadh. Old Dir'iyah is one of the places where photography is allowed in the Kingdom.
